NW: Digipak Production Task

  • For this task I used Adobe Photoshop, being one of the first times I've used it I found it quite tricky to begin with but soon worked out how to use the program.
  • The tools I used to create my album cover included the crop tool to initially crop my image, I then used various image adjustments including 'Replace Colour' and 'Hue/Saturation' where I altered the Lightness and the Hue of my image to give it the negative, pixelated effect in bright pink and blue colours.
  • I then went onto another layer to add text to the album cover, I used the ADMUI2L font and matched the album name to the bright pink colour and the artist name to the bright blue colour so they link to the image.
  • I was aiming for the pixelated effect as I think it has an electronic look to it which relates to the artist, Flume, whos music genre is Electronic Dance Music, I think the negative effect on the image gives it a more alternative look which fits with the genre.
  • The challenges of this task included manipulating the image only because I'd never really done that on Photoshop before so it was new to me but once I'd done it I was able to edit my image quickly and more confidently.
  • For the print task I would make sure I use a good image so that it is easy to remove the background if I want to and I will probably experiment more with text and colours.
