Forwards tracking through a tunnel, the light at the end forms a circle and the boy and girl on the motorcycle create a shillouette as they go through, the camera slowly follows. Dark and the colour grading is dull.

The two charcaters are sitting on top of what looks like a childrens playhouse, theres a block of fats in the left hand side of the frame suggesting a council estate-type location. They both wear red jackets, colours are still wuite dull, the sky appears misty. Handicam type movement again.

MS
Focused on girls face, she is positioned in the right third of the frame, there’s then a pull focus which focuses on her leg and the boys hand moving towards her in the foreground. Bright, washed out lighting, simple set. Costume of girl with knee-high socks suggests she is childlike and innocent. Pan to follow his hand.

M/LS
Both in frame so we see their side profiles and them together across the table. The camera moves as if it is handicam to suggest the audience are there with them. The characters are playful with each other suggesting they have a fun relationship.

  • The singer/band doesn't feature in the video at all, something that will obviously be the same in our music video. This means that the whole video focuses on the narrative which is definitely something that we are keen on emulating in our music video along with some artistic shots to anchor the narrative a bit more.
  • The cutting rate varies, some shots are as short as 2 seconds which is effective in some cases as it keeps the viewer interested, I think we should use this in our own music video and use the beat of the music to go with the shots. However some shots are longer, like 11 seconds which allows more of the story to be told and can be quite artistically interesting, I hope to get some longer shots for our video with lots of Mise-en-scene that can capture the audiences eye.
  • Throughout the whole video there is handicam movement, this creates a sense of being with the characters and is definitely something we plan on using.
  • the rule of thirds has been used to draw your eye to a certain part of the frame, I think this looks effective and makes the shot look a bit more interesting.
  • Although the video doesn't include as many artistic shots as we plan to use, it was a useful video to watch and analyse because it followed a young couple and had a variety of interesting shots and framing.

  2. This is a very powerful video - it evokes an emotional response and it is useful to see how meaning about this relationship is conveyed in an intimate way - consider reaction shots and framing. Well done - although you are going to use a second line of action with 'conceptual' shots, this would be an excellent video to emulate to convey the relationship. Also consider slow motion.
