This week I'm working on the animatic, yesterday i got our storyboard images onto the computer started to edit them in DaVinci Resolve, however DaVinci then stopped responding and then i lost my work. So I started again today and have got most of the storyboard images on the timeline along with the song. I now need to change the length of shots to fit the song and work on transitions.

ED progress post
- individually i have been working on print work for the Digi pack i have researched into the meta narrative of SG lewis and it is clear that not having a character on the digi pack is conventional and picture of some natural beauty would fit in nicely
- This is why i have chosen to use sunset photo's which i have taken in the past for the digi pack production as i feel these fit in with the theme of SG lewis
- The track we have chosen 'warm' by SG lewis was released as a single and therefore is not a album name so I chose a fitting name 'tremors' as i felt this fitted best in with the other names of SG lewis's albums 'yours' and 'shivers'

NW: Task plan
This week I plan to complete the animatic from our storyboards.
In todays lesson we all looked at our footage and started to put in onto the editing timeline with the music so we can start to put the shots in order and create a rough cut.

ED-reflection on shoot
What went well:
- The use of movement in the camera went very well we managed to get some very interesting movement and use equipment such as the JIB, track and dolly and steady cam this means that we have a good range of camera movement.
- we used lots of close ups and got things such as the time lapse we also managed to make lots of interesting transition shots where the girl would change from being with her boyfriend to being on her own.
- The locations we used were very good and visually effective with lots of bright colours and we were able to film in busy places such as Piccadilly circus without causing too much of a disturbance
- The weather as a whole was good and we were able to avoid the rain until it was heavy in the evening but at this point we had done most of our shots outside
What problems did you face?
- While using the JIB we had difficultly making the shot movement look smooth this is because we didn't have the weights on the JIB and therefore we had to use handbags to help to balance it out to make the shot look smooth.
- Although as a whole we managed to avoid people walking in front of shots we did have some people walking in front of us during the filming and also looking at the camera which de-credited shots meaning we had to retake
- Creating the transition shots seemed very difficult this was because had to try and visualize the editing which we would use

NW: Reflection on shoot
What was my role on the shoot?
- I mainly helped to carry the equipment around the locations and made sure we were filming all the right shots in each location, i also was making sure we weren't getting in the way of the public and keeping an eye on the time so we got the correct lighting for our shots.
- I also did some filming, for example handicam shots in the vintage shop in Brick Lane, the jib shot on South Bank, over the shoulder shots near the London Eye, the time lapse in Brick Lane, among others.
- I also brought my camera with me and took production photos throughout the day, showing our equipment and locations, along with cast and crew.
- We managed to film all our shots in one day, so this meant that the lighting was fairly consistent and the costumes/makeup of our actors are exactly the same.
- We worked well together and had a clear plan of what shots we needed.
- We were able to put together the equipment quickly so we didn't waste much time setting up or packing away which allowed us to get all the shots we wanted plus extras.
- It started to rain at the end of the day so we had to make sure equipment was dry- but the weather cant be helped.
- if we had more time we could have reviewed the shots straight away but we were conscious of the time and wanted to make sure we got to all the locations so didn't always have time to do this.

OK: Reflection on Shoot
From completing our shoot on the 15th October, we successfully shot a narrative for SG Lewis's - Warm. After using our call sheet, we were able to head to each location with an idea of the shots we wanted to capture. Due to construction issues with the train, we had to get the train from Sevenoaks to London Waterloo East but other than that, we didn't encounter any technical issues on the day. From practicing setting up the more complicated equipment including the jib and the track and dolly, we were able to set up and put them away without any issues.
Throughout the day, Elliot operated and directed the camera which was helped by myself and Natalie to direct the shots and use the location and props effectively to capture unique and individual shots. We fully utilized the locations that we went to, including the surrounding areas of Southbank and Brick Lane. We experienced a number of people who were interested by the jib as it was clearly a piece of equipment that stood out from the crowd. This was expected and was included in our risk assessment as we had to make sure we kept the equipment secure and within our sights.
We encouraged Elliot to keep the camera rolling throughout most of the day as it would've made it easier to cut the shots when it came to editing. We took a number of shorter shots but managed to keep up with an equal number of shots with the female character and couple.
What was my role?
What could we have improved during the shoot?
From watching our footage at school, we noticed that a lot of our shots were out of focus. We pressumed this may be a problem however, after discussing this issue with our Media technician, he told us that we could adjust this in Da Vinci Resolve (our editing software) and that it would be fine.

What was my role?
- My main involvement within the production of the music video was being one of the actors. I played the boyfriend of the female character
- Not only was I one of the actors within our production, I helped to carry the equipment as well as coordinating between our group specific shots and ideas that we could create
- The whole day we worked well as a team to direct important shots including being aware of our surroundings and the risks that could be associated wth filming in London
- I also took part in filming as I wanted to improve my camera skills. Elliot showed me how to use his camera and which settings were necessary depending on the lighting and location. I filmed a number of shots of our female character who was portrayed as being alone whilst walking the streets of London

Group - Brighton short
This is our Brighton short piece it is a montage edit of our experimenting with use of different camera motion and using the editing software Davinci resolve
Group: Planning for shoot - Logistics
- For our shoot, we must identify our course of action, including location times, where and when we will be meeting our actors and props and costumes
- Using our risk assessment and call sheet, will help us to overcome any challenges we have on the day as well follow a structure to our framing and shots which will result in a successful narrative
Actors
After deciding our actors were going to be Oliver Knott and Maria Bobkova, we decided on a date and time that was suitable for everybody to meet. Due to Natalie going on holiday during half term, we decided to shoot our music video on the 15th October. We contacted Maria a week before we decided on the date and asked if she was available on that date and she confirmed. After successfully deciding a date, we all agreed to get the 11:25 train from Sevenoaks up to Waterloo East as a result of their being railway construction at Charing Cross. Throughout the day of filming, we followed our call sheet to order our shots as well as create a number of improvised shots on the day which would be used as filler shots.
Props and Equipment
We didn't have any specific props that we needed to bring with us on the day of the shoot. We bought a hot chocolate on the day which was used to show the couple flirting in the coffee shop. Over the course of the day, we filmed a number of shots of the female character smoking a cigarette to show her being alone in certain locations.
For the equipment, we planned to book the jib, tracking and dolly, tripod and an SD card from our teacher. This was done 4 days before we had decided the day we were filming. After agreeing a day we would come and pick up the equipment from school, Ollie brought in a bag big enough to carry around the equipment for the day of the shoot. After collecting the equipment on Friday, we filled out all of the relevant paperwork that was needed to sign the equipment out of school. On the day of the shoot, the bag proved to be useful which protected the equipment especially when it started raining. After using the equipment, we returned the equipment to school the following Monday successfully.
Costume
We had planned to have our two characters dress casually in our production. This didn't require any planning other than agreeing to wear jeans and appropriate footwear as we would be walking around London from the morning to the night

Train station/ train
|
Lots of people walking around.
Gaps from trains and platforms trip hazards
|
Our group and members of the public may be harmed as there are lots of
people we could collide with and we have lots of equipment
|
By being visual ant when we are walking around making sure that we
don’t bump into people etc.
|
|
South bank
|
Street performers
Steps
Bridge
|
Street performers attract large crowds which we need to watch out for
as well as the steps on the bridge this is because we are carrying heavy
equipment and therefore need to be careful.
We need to be careful not to drop our equipment off the bridge and
obstruct people.
|
Watch out for area’s which crowds are walking towards and that street
performers.
Make sure that we all help each other move equipment up and down the
stairs.
|
|
Brick lane/ shops in brick lane/ area’s with graffiti
|
There are crowds of people on art tours around the area which we plan
to film in.
In the shops it is small spaces and we have very big equipment
|
The members of the public walking around may be injured. Also our
equipment could be bumped into as wellwhich could cause damage to it
|
Be patient for the art tours to finish before filming or we could be
obstructing peoples view. In the shops if we plan to move around with the
handy cam one person stay still in anopen safe area to look after equipment
we don’t need so we can move more efficiently
|
|
Piccadilly circus
|
This area has lots of road that are very busy as well as lots of
people running around and crossing the road.
|
This could damage us or out equipment if we are not careful to watch
out for these people
|
We need to make sure that we cross the road at the appropriate time
and make sure that we avoid large crowds of people
